During the season of Advent, our focus will be on God’s shalom or peace. This is important for two reasons. One, there is a need for peace during the hectic-ness in December. Two, with the stress and negativity in our country, there is a needed sanctuary of peace that only the church can offer.
We will be doing something different during these four Sundays in Advent. We will have a map of the world in front of the altar reminding us of God as our creator. During our service, we will be asking people to come forward (during the Hymn of the Day) to place a candle light (battery operated) on a particular point in the world to offer up a prayer of peace there.
Our specific themes of peace for each Sunday is as follows:
- December 1: The Healing of the Nations
- December 8: The Peaceful Kingdom
- December 15: For The Healing of Creation
- December 22: Christ, Our Peace
We invite you to join us on Sundays this Advent as we prepare for Christ’s birth. Our services are Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM. You can also hear this sermon series and more as part of our special series on the Shepherdcast! (Listen at the link below or wherever you get your podcasts!)
